Maureen Fitzsimmons, RN, BSN, MPH, NEA-BC, has been appointed vice president of nursing at Geisinger-Community Medical Center and the associate chief nursing officer for Geisinger Northeast. In her new role, Fitzsimmons will work with G-CMC leadership to provide direction and opportunity for campus nurses.
“Following an extensive search, we feel that we have identified an extremely successful candidate to lead our nursing program at G-CMC in Maureen Fitzsimmons,” said Susan Hallick, RN, BSN, MHA, NEA-BC, executive vice president, chief nursing officer, Geisinger Health System. “Her extensive experience as a nursing leader coupled with an outstanding academic resume makes her the ideal person to aid in the continued growth of G-CMC.”
Fitzsimmons most recently served as the vice president of patient care services and chief nurse executive for the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, Conn. She is a graduate of the nursing program at William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J., and earned a master’s degree in public health from Columbia University in New York City.
Fitzsimmons joins the executive leadership team at G-CMC consisting of Barbara Bossi, RN, associate chief administrative officer; Tony Aquilina, D.O., chief medical officer; Ed Chabalowski, chief finance officer; and Bob Steigmeyer, chief executive officer.
