The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) completed its review of the proposed merger of Community Medical Center (CMC) into the Geisinger Health System, and did not raise objections or file requests for additional information. Geisinger and CMC are now working with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office to complete the regulatory review process.
“As part of the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, mergers of a certain size, such as the Geisnger and CMC transaction, require a review by the Federal Trade Commission, ” said Bob Steigmeyer, CMC President and CEO. “We are pleased that we have successfully completed this step, and we anticipate a successful interaction with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.”
In addition to the regulatory review, groups from CMC and Geisinger continue to identify community health needs and develop integration plans.
