CMC Employee of the Month – September 2011, David Serafin , Rehabilitation Services

September 2011 CMC Employee of the Month - David Serafin Dave has been employed at CMC for the past 24 years. He presently works in Rehabilitation Services as an Admissions Liaison and has previously worked in the Social Work Department. Dave’s current duties include clinically assessing referrals for short-term rehab at Mountain View Care Center; checking insurance coverage for a skilled nursing facility stay; and completing all necessary admission, social work and business office forms with the patient and/or family when admitted to MVCC. Dave also Works very closely with physicians, social workers, case management, and nursing with regard to referrals to MVCC. He assists in marketing efforts also for MVCC, and is available as a resource for information regarding both short-term rehab and long-term care in a skilled nursing facility.

Dave relates what he enjoys most about his position is his interaction with staff, physicians, patients, residents and family members at CMC and MVCC. It is very rewarding to see the progress made by the patients from the acute care setting to a skilled rehab unit, and eventually home.

In his spare time, Dave enjoys playing golf and spending time with family.

Dave resides in West Pittston with his wife, Jane. They have three children: Heather, David, Kelly, and a granddaughter, Talia Marie.

Dave”s director, Kathy Chessick, comments, “Dave is the liaison between the hospital and Mountain View Care Center. He is a very dependable, reliable, responsible and motivated individual who works very hard to complete the transfer arrangements while keeping the patient, physician, and family well informed. Dave has an excellent rapport with all members of the teams at the hospital and at MVCC. Dave strongly supports the mission and vision of the Community Medical Center Healthcare System.”
